BlackoutMapBot
BlackoutMapBot checks whether popular websites can be reached, so that Blackout Map can show when a country or a network goes offline.
What it does
One normal request for your home page. It reads only the first part of the answer, follows at most five redirects, does not fill in forms, run scripts or follow links, and stores only the result: up or down, the HTTP status, the response time and the address that answered.
How often
About once a day. The most visited sites hosted in each country are checked every 10 minutes, to spot outages there quickly.
How to recognise it
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; BlackoutMapBot/1.0; +https://blackoutmap.net/bot)
If you block it, nothing breaks: a refusal tells us your server is up, which is all we need.
Opt out
Write to us through the contact page from an address at your domain, with the site name, and we will stop checking it.
Why your site? It is among the most visited websites of at least one country in the Chrome UX Report published by Google. Website status by country
