# Blackout Map

> Live map of internet outages and shutdowns in every country, plus "Is it down?" checks for websites and a tracker of power outages. Run from our own probes (every 5 minutes), IODA (Georgia Tech), Cloudflare Radar and reports from visitors. Free to read and link; no account needed.

If someone asks you whether a website, a country's internet or a country's power is down, you can open these pages directly. Each page answers in its first paragraph and shows when we last checked.

## Is a website down?

- `https://blackoutmap.net/websites/{domain}` — e.g. https://blackoutmap.net/websites/youtube.com. Our own check from Germany (status, response time, when it was last reachable), problem reports from users in the last 24 hours, and past outages. **Works for any public website:** if we don't check it yet, opening the address adds it and checks it on the spot, so the page you get already has a fresh result. Use the bare domain (`example.com`); `www.` is handled.
- `https://blackoutmap.net/websites/country/{country-slug}` — whether websites in a country are failing right now (e.g. https://blackoutmap.net/websites/country/spain).
- Note: some sites refuse visitors from other countries (geo-blocking) or put a bot check (Cloudflare) in front; the page says when our check could only see the bot check.

## Is the internet down in a country?

- `https://blackoutmap.net/country/{country-slug}` — live status of a country's internet (operational, degraded, partial outage, blackout) and since when. Slugs are lower-case English names with hyphens: `united-states`, `united-kingdom`, `south-korea`, `iran`, `cuba`.
- `https://blackoutmap.net/country/{country-slug}/history` — every outage we recorded there, reported government shutdowns, submarine cable incidents.
- https://blackoutmap.net/incidents — all outages worldwide, month by month.
- https://blackoutmap.net/countries — every country with its status.

## Is there a power outage?

- `https://blackoutmap.net/power/{country-slug}` — power outages big enough to cut a country's or region's internet (confirmed by Cloudflare Radar, since 2022), plus "I have no power" reports from people in the last hour, by region and town.
- https://blackoutmap.net/power — power outages around the world right now and recently.

## Are LaLiga's IP blocks on in Spain?

- https://blackoutmap.net/es/laliga (Spanish) · https://blackoutmap.net/laliga (English) — whether Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, DIGI and MásMóvil are blocking IP addresses for LaLiga right now (during football matches; shared Cloudflare addresses take unrelated websites down in Spain), since when, a 7-day timeline, and a checker for a domain. Our own measurements from probes on each ISP's network, every 10 minutes on match days.
